The Heist of Moctezuma's Treasure

Hosts in character: A Mexica princess · A Spanish deserter

The story

The capital of the Aztec empire is collapsing. Outside, the echoes of battle and the clash of steel ring through the flooded streets of Tenochtitlan: you are about to live through La Noche Triste, the “Night of Sorrows” of 1520.

In a secret hideout, two unlikely allies who have defied their own sides are waiting for you: a Mexica princess, bearer of the blood and secrets of her lineage, and a Spanish soldier who has deserted, trading his loyalty to the crown for the promise of survival. Together they have recovered the legendary treasure of Moctezuma. To smuggle it out under the eyes of their pursuers, they have hidden it in the most unlikely place: the banquet about to be served before you.

Tonight you stop being a spectator and become an accomplice in the heist that will rewrite history. Your mission is to taste each dish and discover how many pieces of the treasure it contains.

You must sharpen your senses and keep an exact count of the gold pieces your palate finds, without saying a word to your tablemates. A single miscalculation could expose the whole operation. Can you recover the treasure?

The Intercepted Telegraph

La Adelita · An ambushed General

You are in the middle of the Mexican Revolution. The constant clicking of the telegraph has suddenly gone silent. The federal army has cut the camp's power and you cannot see your own hand. You are surrounded; the ambush is imminent.

Only two people can help you escape the firing squad. One is La Adelita, the woman who leads the revolutionary operations from the shadows —her name is the one Mexico gave to the women who fought in the Revolution. Beside her is an ambushed General who desperately needs the final order to launch the counterattack before the federal troops wipe out everything and everyone.

The enemy is watching every move and has intercepted the usual lines, but the resistance has one last, undetectable channel. Tonight you are the troop's most vital spy network. The decisive message is not written on paper: it is masterfully encoded in the food before you.

Isolated in the darkness, your mission is to taste. Each course hides a message in Morse code that you can only decipher by chewing. You must translate the sensory pattern in your mind and, like a true secret cell, whisper the message across the table, link by link, until the exact order reaches the General.

If the chain breaks, if the message is distorted on your palate or the enemy hears your whispers, the camp will be massacred at dawn. Are you ready to chew on the rebellion, crack the code and give the order to fire?

The Secret of Independence

Doña Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez · An insurgent messenger

It is 1810 and the rumors are no longer gossip: the conspiracy for Mexico's independence has been discovered and royalist troops are at the door. The heavy iron locks have been shut by order of the Corregidor himself, trapping you in the suffocating darkness of the basement.

In the darkness, Doña Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez —“La Corregidora”, heroine of the independence movement— demands absolute loyalty to the cause. She has an insurgent messenger at her command. His horse is saddled and he must ride to San Miguel el Grande to warn the captains, but he cannot leave blind: he needs the password, and the basement is surrounded by spies.

Before you waits a secret three-course dinner, but the royalists have tampered with the food. Your mission is to decode the escape route through her famous taconazo —the heel taps she used, according to history, to warn the conspirators. In the silence of the room, La Corregidora will begin striking the wooden floor with her heel, marking a secret cadence.

You must listen closely, memorize the sequence and repeat the exact rhythm with your own foot so the code travels across the table to the messenger. That same beat is your key to survival: the taps tell you the precise order in which to eat each bite in the dark without being discovered by the intruder. Lose the rhythm, let fear slow you down or bite into the wrong course, and you will swallow betrayal and the insurgency will die with you in this basement before seeing the light of a new nation.

Day of the Dead: The Threshold of Mictlán

Mictecacíhuatl · The Xoloitzcuintle

The line between the world you know and the afterlife has faded. You have crossed the veil, but your soul has lost its way in the shadows of the underworld.

From the darkness rises an imposing presence: Mictecacíhuatl, the Lady of the Dead. Tonight, in her kingdom, nothing is granted without a test. Beside her lurks an elusive figure: the Xoloitzcuintle, the sacred dog who has taken human form tonight to judge your steps.

Tonight you are not a simple guest: you are a spirit trying to find its way home. For the doors of the world of the living to open again, you must prove that your essence still remembers what it means to be alive.

Immersed in darkness, you will rebuild by touch the ofrenda —the Day of the Dead altar offering— that connects you to life. Guided only by your hands and working with your table, you must assemble the offering that best pleases the gods, all while eating the dishes Mictecacíhuatl has left to enlighten you.

If your senses betray you and the offering does not satisfy the goddess, the doors will close and you will become an eternal guest at her banquet. Are you ready to cross the threshold?
